Once upon a sit-upon

I’ve mentioned a few bits of really handy car-free-dom kit on this blog. It has included sticks/poles, shoe ice grips and comfy shoes to name a few.

We really enjoy walking for leisure, or hiking as it’s often called. When we are out for a wander, often on a decent walk/hike in our nearby Peak District we love a picnic.

If you are walking/hiking quite a few miles/kilometres and want to have a decent feed en-route but don’t want to lug too much stuff around you need to keep your picnic gubbins to a minimum. We’ve come up with a light comfy option for sitting on.

OK the sit-upons that we made from cutting up an old yoga mat into 30cm squares for us each to sit on when we picnic are not so innovative but they do the job really well. Very cheap as we found the yoga mat in a local charity shop. And, they can double as good back cushioning if you put them into the right spot of your backpack.

So there go when you are out walking/hiking in your car-free-dom don’t have an un-comfy picnic – make and take some sit-upons!
